Lyric :

🎵 Let’s sing along with the lyrics! 🎤

The night we met I knew I needed you so
And if I had the chance I’d never let you go
So won’t you say you love me
I’ll make you so proud of me
We’ll make ’em turn their heads every place we go

So won’t you, please
(Be my, be my baby) Be my little baby
(My one and only baby) Say you’ll be my darlin’
(Be my, be my baby) Be my baby now
Wha-oh-oh-oh

I’ll make you happy, baby, just wait and see
For every kiss you give me, I’ll give you three
Oh, since the day I saw you
I have been waiting for you
You know I will adore you ’til eternity

So won’t you, please
(Be my, be my baby) Be my little baby
(My one and only baby) Say you’ll be my darlin’
(Be my, be my baby) Be my baby now
Wha-oh-oh-oh-oh

So come on and please
(Be my, be my baby) Be my little baby
(My one and only baby) Say you’ll be my darlin’
(Be my, be my baby) Be my baby now
Wha-oh-oh-oh

(Be my, be my baby) Be my little baby
(My one and only baby) Oh
(Be my, be my baby) Oh
Wha-oh-oh-oh-oh

(Be my, be my baby) Oh
(My one and only baby) Oh
(Be my, be my baby) Be my baby now
Wha-oh-oh-oh

About The Song :

In 1961, The Ronettes, a New York City girl group consisting of Veronica (Ronnie) Bennett, her sister Estelle Bennett, and cousin Nedra Talley, signed with Colpix Records but achieved little success. In 1963, producer Phil Spector noticed them and brought them to his Philles Records, where they embraced his renowned “Wall of Sound” production style. Initially set to record “Why Don’t They Let Us Fall in Love,” they ultimately chose “Be My Baby,” written by Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich. The recording featured a notable lineup of musicians, and with Ronnie Spector’s powerful vocals, the song narrates a love connection and a girl yearning for a specific guy’s attention.

“Be My Baby” was released in 1963 and swiftly became a hit for The Ronettes. The group toured with Dick Clark’s Caravan of Stars, and the song received high praise, with Dick Clark predicting it to be the “record of the century.” Included in their only album, “Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes featuring Veronica,” the track, along with “Baby, I Love You,” contributed to the group’s success.

Although The Ronettes disbanded in 1967, “Be My Baby” remains their most significant hit, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard 100 chart upon release. In 1999, the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, and in 2006, it was added to the United States National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress.
